The acquisition of the Percy Map prompted an examination of the history of the map and its makers. In particular, who was the elusive John Green, né Bradock Mead, who prepared this map for publication, and who was Dr. William Douglass who created the base map from which Green worked? This preliminary research was written up in:

Edney, Matthew H. 2003. “New England Mapped: The Creation of a Colonial Territory.” In La cartografia europea tra primo Rinascimento e fine dell’Illuminismo: Atti del Convegno internazionale «The Making of European Cartography», Firenze BNCF-IUE, 13-15 dicembre 2001, ed. Diogo Ramada Curto, Angelo Cattaneo, and André Ferrand de Almeida, 155-76. Accademia toscana di scienze e lettere «La Colombaria», «Studi» 213. Florence: Leo S. Olshki Editore.
